RLAC Special Events

Ridgewood LAC hold a variety of special events over the course of the season. 
Check out the list below to see how it affects the weekly competition.
All athletes will be given the opportunity to participate in these events unless otherwise stated.
Athletics West also conduct State Events in addition to Ridgewood Events. For more information about Athletics West Events click HERE

​Centre Multi Event Championship 
POST LOCKDOWN SPECIAL EDITION

Date: Saturday 20th February 2021
2020 and so far 2021 has been a little different, as such Ridgewood LAC is pleased to announce a VERY SPECIAL POST LOCKDOWN CENTRE MULTI EVENT CHAMPIONSHIP!

The 2021 ​Centre Multi Event Championship program includes events that we have not seen since Christmas or events we have only offered a handful of times. 
Each age group will compete in 4 (U6/7) or 5 (U8+) events with points earned for each event. Track events of 300m or more will attract double points in this championship event. 
Medals are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the overall winner after all four (4) or five (5) Events completed.
Eligible athletes must compete in ALL events for the championship.​

BONUS EVENTS 
The Walk (U9-U17) will be conducted at the start of the morning (marshall at 7.15am) and the 200m/300m Long Hurdles (U13-U17) will be conducted at the conclusion of the program. 
These events do not contribute to the Multi Event Championships but do count for normal centre points etc.

All events offered at this competition will attract points, PBs and Centre Home Records and will be included in the overall season event count.

​2020 RLAC Opening Day
Date: 17th October 2020

The 2020/21 Season is here!
Join us for our first competition of the season and start earning those Personal Bests (PB's). A selection of guests will be invited to attend to the opening of the new Little Athletics season and speak a word of encouragement, motivation and to thank our winter coaches and athletes who have represented Ridgewood throughout the winter at local, national and international competitions. There will be a march of athletes in their respective clubs prior to the speeches.
Athletes are to be at the oval at 7.30 am to ensure a timely start of the day.

NOTE: Our State Relay selection process will commence from the opening day onwards

Centre Multi Event Days (Perpetual Trophy)
 Dates: 7th and 14th November 2020
Program 1 and Program 2 will be used for these Multi Event Days. Clubs compete for the Multi Event Trophy. 
Perth Children's Hospital All Age Relay 2020
Date: 14th November 2020

​This special event includes a Club Vs. Club Grand Relay with participation for a Gold Coin Donation. 
Clubs also provide fundraising activities.
All money raised is donated to the Perth Children's Hospital Foundation.

Ridgewood LAC Clubs will be organising special fundraising events for this day. Please speak to your local club for what is on offer.
Centre PB Days (Perpetual Trophy)
Date: 21st November & 5th December 2020
Program 1 and Program 2 will be used for these PB Event Days. Clubs compete for the Centre’s PB Day trophy.
2020 Smith-Bossert Challenge
Date: 28th November 2020
Times: First Marshall at 7.45am
First event will commence at 8am
Finish time will be ~ 2.30pm

Ridgewood LAC Vs Joondalup LAC
It's one of the biggest rivalries in the Northern Suburbs
​LIVE at the WA Athletics Stadium, Mt Claremont
ALL athletes are encouraged to come and compete against our closest neighbours at the premium athletics arena in WA.
With all athletes participating in a variety of events including sprints, middle distance, throws, Long Jump and our relay teams having a practice on track its bound to be a great day for the whole family!

Please remember to wear age tags and registration numbers. Athletes are encouraged to wear Ridgewood Uniform but this is not compulsory, club uniform will be acceptable. 
Parents may be required to fulfill a roster as per the allocated roster to clubs.
The day concludes with trial races for our track relay teams who will be competing at the State Track & Field Relay Championship on Saturday 12th December.
It is compulsory for the athletes selected in the State Relay Track Teams to participate in the trial relay race.
​McGrath Foundation Pinkletics
Date: ​5th December 2020

This day all athletes can dress up in PINK to raise money for breast cancer with the McGrath Foundation.  Ridgewood LAC would like to see all athletes participate.
We encourage all clubs to add to this cause by holding their own fundraising activity on the day itself. We would like to see any may athletes, coaches and parents their brightest, prettiest, funniest pink costumes.
Please note that rego numbers and age tags must still be worn for this event.
Twilight Competition 1 & Christmas Party
Date: Friday 18th December 2020
1500m @ 4.30pm, Main Comp from 5pm

The final competition for 2020 is our first Twilight Competition for the season. With special guests and plenty of action, this competition is sure to wrap up the first half of the season with a bang!

MID-SEASON BREAK
Twilight Competition 2
Date: Friday 15th January 2021
1500m @ 4.30pm, Main Comp from 5pm

Competiton resumes in January with a number of Twilight Competitions to take advantage of the cooler evenings.

This event will also incorporate Alumni and Athletics West Invitational Events.

Twilight competitions continue throughout January with a special Bring A Friend Night.

Twilight Competition - Fusion Cup 2021
Date: 29th January 2021
Competition commences at 5pm


Fusion Cup is BACK for 2021.
This Special Event is a Club/Team Based Competition where athletes compete for their club to earn points across a variety of events. 
With 3 Divisions, New Rules, Regulations and POWERPLAYS all to come this season, the 2021 Fusion Cup is going to be hottest contested competition of the season.
Can Quinns Rock Sharks reign supreme and retain the cup for another year?

​U14 - U17 Nitro Challenge
Date: Saturday 6th February 2021
Registration: Championship Officer
The highly successful Senior Nitro Challenge is back for 2021! 
Athletes from across the North West Metro Region (Ridgewood, Joondalup, Hamersley and UWA) will converge on HBF Arena for the fourth Nitro Challenge.
Fun events throughout the night with great entertainment and plenty of excitement. This is an event not to be missed.
Athletes must compete in full Ridgewood Centre Uniform.  Shoes are compulsory, spikes are permitted as the Athletics West Little Athletics spike policy. Age tags and registration numbers are required.
Parents who have athletes participating, may be required to fulfil a roster.
