The 2021 Athletics West State Championship Qualifiers is an event spread over 2 days where athletes can compete against other centres in their own nominated events. By nominating your own events, you can either compete both days or just 1 day pending on when your event is scheduled. 
This event has changed from the 2020 Zone Championships - Further Information will be provided once available.
 
This event is conducted by the North Zone Centres, consisting of Ridgewood and the following Centres;
 
Bayswater / Eastern Hills / Inglewood / Kingsway / Swan Valley / Hamersley / Joondalup / UWA

U9 - U15 - This is the first stage of the State Track & Field Championships. Each athlete can compete in a number of events depending of their age.
 
U9                  max of 4 events over the 2 days - no limit on the amount in 1 day.
U10 – U12     max of 5 events over the 2 days - no limit on the amount in 1 day.
U13 – U15     max of 6 events over the 2 days - no limit on the amount in 1 day.
 
U9 - 15 athletes must compete in full Ridgewood Centre uniform. 
Shoes are compulsory, spikes are permitted for U11 upwards as per the Athletics West Little Athletics spike policy. Age tags and registration numbers are required.
 
Ridgewood Centre will be assisting the competing athletes with centre training, days and times will be confirmed closer to the event.
The Ridgewood Centre will be required to supply parent helpers & officials on sites throughout the weekend. Please note that at least 1 parent helper is required per competing athlete per family, i.e. if you have 2 children competing, you need to fulfil 2 roster positions and so forth.
 
U16 & U17 - Automatically qualify to nominate for the semi-finals at the State Track & Field Championships. Athletes can compete in six (6) events in total. These athletes will need to register online through Results HQ for the State Track & Field Championship.

Dates: Sat 21st & Sun 22nd November 2020

SATURDAY - Under 11 - Under 13 Boys & Under 14 to Under 17's Boys and Girls Day 1 
SUNDAY - Under 11 - Under 13 Girls & Under 14 to Under 17's Boys and Girls Day 2

This event is open to all registered athletes in the Under 11 to Under 17 age groups.
Under 11-13: 5 Events
Under 14-17: 7 Events

There will be unlimited entries from each Centre but only the top five points tally will be taken into account for the overall trophy.
 
Each athlete competes in their age group five (5) or seven (7) events involving both track and field events.  Points are allocated to each athlete for each event based on the performance, the athlete’s points are tallied.  Medals are presented to the first three places in each age group for both boys and girls.
 
Athletes must compete in full Ridgewood Centre Uniform.  Shoes are compulsory, spikes are permitted as the Athletics West Little Athletics spike policy.  Age tags and registration numbers are required.
Parents who have athletes competing must be prepared to be rostered on a site.

Qualifying Event
1. Athletes in the Under 14 and Under 15 age groups who win a medal will be eligible to be a member of the International State Team in the following July.
Note: This does not mean that the medal winner will compete in all seven events at the International Meet as events are prioritised to individual state championship medallists.
2.  All Under 15 athletes who wish to be considered for the State U15 Multi Event Team competing at the Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALACs) in April each year must nominate by 5pm on the Friday prior to the State Combined Event Championships. The top three highest placed athletes that have nominated for selection will be offered a place in the WA State Team. The final team position will remain subject to fitness prior to final team arrangements.  All other Combined Event athletes who nominated for the State Team will remain as reserves for team selection, subject to fitness.

2020 Selection Dates
State Track Relay Training Squad Selection Date - Tuesday 10th November
State Field Team Selection Date - Tuesday 16th November
State Track Relay Team Final Selection Date - Tuesday 24th November
This event is conducted by Athletics West and is held at the WA Athletics Stadium.
The Track Relay event is open to U9 - U17 athletes and athletes can participate in one or more of the following events:

 
4 x 100m            U9 – U17
4 x 200m            U9 – U10
4 x 400m            U11 – U17
 
The Field Relay event is open to athletes in the U9 – U17 Age Groups.
A team may consist of 2, 3 or 4 athletes per age group. The field events to participate in are long jump and triple jump (U11-U17) and two throws (Shot Put & Discus or Javelin). U9 and U10 will compete in Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus and Turbo Javelin.
 
Our initial training squads for each age group both boys and girls will be selected during October, as per the RLAC Relay Selection Policy. For full details on team selection, rules and participants commitment, please see the RLAC Relay Selection Policy on our website.

We aim to train all track squads on the same days/times as much as possible, please ensure your athletes are attending as this will strengthen not only their skills, but also team and centre spirit.
 
Athletes must compete in full Ridgewood Centre Uniform.  Shoes are compulsory, spikes are permitted for U11 upwards as the LAWA spike policy.  Age tags and registration numbers are required.
 
NOTE:  Training for this event may clash with club training.  Parents must be prepared to be rostered on a site. Coaches are exempt from helping on sites due to the need to prepare their athletes.
 
NOTE: there will be no competition at Ridgewood oval on the day of this event.
