2021 WA All Schools Championships

October 29th to 31st - WA Athletics Stadium, Floreat

​The 2021 WA All Schools Championships were held over the last weekend of October, with 22 athletes including 2 Ridgewood LAC Alumni competing across over 50 events.
Ridgewood LAC finished the weekend with 16 medals; (7 Gold, 3 Silver, 6 Bronze).

The weekend started with a flurry on the Friday night, with 17 athletes competing across 22 events and 7 medals won. Brayden Phillips (U14 M) and Charlie Williams (U16 M) kicked off the championships and both secured BRONZE medals in the Javelin events with best distances of 39.68m and 46.44m respectively. Not to be outdone, Olivia Williams (U16 F) continued the Javelin medal success with a BRONZE medal, throwing 40.23m. The night on the Javelin runway concluded with a GOLD medal for RLAC Alumni, Jordan Woodman (U20 F) with a best throw of 32.92m.
The Friday Night Track program also produced medals for Ridgewood LAC athletes. The 100m heats kicked off the night with Thomas Smith (U14 M) storming down the track to win his heat in 12.25 seconds and secure a place in the final later in the evening. Alumni Callum James (U18 M) and Sophie Williams (U14 F) also qualified for the 100m finals.
Barnaby Lancaster-Simper (U14 M) brought the first track medal of the championships home with a BRONZE medal in the 1500m in a time of 4 minutes, 33.38 seconds. Josh Reeve (U17 M Para T01) continued the 1500m medal haul with a GOLD medal, securing it in 4 minutes, 54.79 seconds.
In the 100m Finals, Sophie Williams placed 7th, Callum James placed 4th and Thomas Smith ripped down the track in 12.19 seconds to secure the second track GOLD medal.
Tyson Phillips (U16 M), Hayley Mann (U16 F), Tyleaa Ward (U14 F), Declan Morrison (U18 M), Seaden Taig (U14 M), Jesse West (U16 M), Chloe Reeve (U16 F) and Mia Conroy (U18 F) also all featured in events across Day 1 of the 2021 WA All Schools Championships.

Day 2 (Saturday) started with athletes competing at Ridgewood LAC competition in the morning, before heading to the stadium just after lunch for an afternoon of big events. 8 athletes tackled 12 events and secured another 4 medals.
Alumni Callum James (U18 M) kicked started the days competition, coming 4th in Long Jump with a best jump of 6.34 meters. After missing out on a medal in the Javelin on Friday, Tyson Phillips (U16 M) came back to the All Schools Championship to contest the High Jump event, where with a best clearance of 1.70m secured BRONZE after a countback. Brother Brayden Phillips (U14 M) quickly continued the medal haul for the Phillips with a GOLD in the Shot Put with a best throw of 12.38 meters.
The track was covered in SILVER on Day 2 with Isabelle Curtis (U14 F) completing the 3000m Race Walk in 17 minutes, 2.94 seconds and Bailey Taig (U16 M) running the 3000 meters in 8 minutes 55.20 seconds to both secure SILVER medals.
Jesse West (U16 M), Seaden Taig (U14 M), Shanley Harrison (U14 F) and Jasmine Goodridge (U16 F) also contested events on Day 2.

Day 3 (Sunday) saw the track and field light up again nice and early with events kicking off at 8.45am. 15 athletes across 18 events and another 5 medals won on the final day of action.
The morning started as each of the previous two days had done so with Ridgewood LAC athletes winning medals from the start to the end of the competition.
Tyson Phillips (U16 M) started the morning off with a BRONZE medal in the Discus event with a best throw of 44.30m. Following later in the morning with Brayden Phillips (U14 M) securing the final field medal in the Discus event. A GOLD medal with a best throw of 36.99m.
 The track started off SILVER but would end the morning GOLDEN. Bailey Taig (U16 M) started the track medals with a SILVER in the 800m in a time of 2 minutes 01.36 seconds. Josh Reeve (U17 M Para T01) ran a blistering 800m in a time of 2 minutes 19.52 seconds winning his second GOLD medal of the championships in the process. Early in the session, Thomas Smith (U14 M) secured another finals berth in the 200m with a quick time of 24.84 seconds in the heats. Thomas would then help wrap up the championships in a GOLDEN bow with a win in the 200m Final in a time of 24.74 seconds, just 0.13 seconds ahead of 2nd place, leading to an incredible 100/200m double.
Tyleea Ward (U14 F), Sophie Williams (U14 F), Keira West (U16 F), Olivia Williams (U16 F), Jasmine Goodridge (U16 F), Hayley Mann (U16 F), Charlie Williams (U16 M), Chloe Reeve (U16 F), Mia Conroy (U18 F) and Jake Woodman (U18 M) all featured across other events on Day 3.
 
A huge weekend for all of the Ridgewood LAC athletes that competed across the championships.
